Silk JJ

I LOVE this blouse.  I actually posted this with my suit, but decided it needed/deserved it’s own page.  It’s not really a suit piece after all.

I made this using the JJ pattern on BurdaStyle.  Such a cute basic blouse pattern!  My favorite part is the poofy sleeves 🙂  I found the fabric on Fabric Mart for “only” $10/yd.  It’s a beautiful soft silk habotai with a bit of a sheen.

Since this is the first blouse I’ve made, I had to really take it slow to get everything right.  Also working with the silk was tough- especially doing the french seams!  So, all in all, this took about 10-12 hours to finish!  I couldn’t believe it!

The fit is fantastic- as always, BurdaStyle gets the fit right!

  • not too much really, just eliminated the three smaller ruffles in favor of a big one down the middle (this also made me do the button strip a bit differently).
  • finished all seams using french seams because of the fabric’s nature to unravel
